Overview
A confined space is any area that is not intended for human occupancy, has limited access or has the potential to contain a toxic or oxygen deficient atmosphere.
Training is necessary for supervisors, stand-by-person, workers entering confined spaces as well as rescue personnel and covers unit standards 17599 and 18426.
When entering a confined space you must be able to operate an atmospheric testing device to determine whether a suitable atmosphere exists to work safely. Our course meets the requirements of unit standard 25510.
The training program will include the following DOP requirements:
- Hazards of confined spaces
- Assessment procedures
- Control measures
- Emergency procedures
- Selection, use, fit and maintenance of safety equipment

Pre-Requisites
- Be 16 years of age or over
- Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.0 (General English). Proof of this will be required.

Overview
This is a refresher course for this will provide the knowledge to safely enter, work in and exit a confined space.
Who Should Attend
This is a refresher course for those that have completed the confined spaces unit standards (see below). This includes those with roles or duties regarding confined space entry including permit issuers or receivers.
Course Objectives
- Demonstrate knowledge of the hazards associated with confined space entry
- Plan and use confined space permits and company specific documentation
- Inspect and use confined space equipment.ie gas detectors, harnesses, tripods and rescue systems
- Develop a rescue plan based on a real life scenario
- Demonstrate a practical understanding of confined space entry, work, exit and rescue.

Trainees must hold the unit standards shown below. Trainees must demonstrate that full NZQA training or refresher training has been completed within 2 years.

Dangerous goods include substances and articles that have explosive, flammable, toxic, infectious or corrosive properties. They also include containers that have held dangerous goods.

Overview
V Endorsement – Vehicle Recovery Service – this is a theory assessment only.
If you want to drive a vehicle in a vehicle recovery service, you must have a current V endorsement on your driver licence.
The most common types of vehicle used in vehicle recovery services are tow trucks and car transporters.

- Must hold a minimum of a full Class 1 licence for at least 2 years.
- You must hold unit standard 24089 Logbook and Fatigue (current within the las 12 months).

To do any combination of Wheels, Tracks or Rollers together will take approximately four hours.
This course includes theory and practical components.
If you drive a special-type vehicle that isn’t a forklift on the road, you must have an R, T or W endorsement on your driver licence.

Overview
This course is aimed at producing a chainsaw operator that is able to safely demonstrate and apply the knowledge for chainsaws use contained in the Approved Code of Practice. They will also be able to demonstrate and apply their responsibilities under the requirements of the Health and Safety legislation in relation to chainsaw operation.
Note: This course is designed for the occasional user, as an introduction to chainsaw use, and for the use of a chainsaw in a workplace. This is not an advanced course and does not cover tree felling.

Course Content
In line with code of practice guidelines the course covers the following knowledge and skills:
- Describe the requirements relating to the transport and use of chainsaw fuel
- Describe personal protection and first aid requirements for chainsaw operators
- Check a chainsaw and its components
- Explain how a chainsaw functions
- Demonstrate knowledge of the hazards which influence the operation of the chainsaw
- Prepare to operate a chainsaw
- Start and test a chainsaw
- Use a chainsaw to make cuts
The course can be customised to incorporate specific company policies and procedures for chainsaw use.

Duration
One or two days.
There is both a one day option and a two day option available. The one day course is only available where an organisation has a relevant Health and Safety Programme that addresses active chainsaw use in the field and this can be verified and documented by AMS Group/Natural Instincts, or is used as a refresher. The full two day programme covers the Code of Practice allowing for a modified programme to meet specialist workplace requirements.

Overview
This course is aimed at producing 4WD operators that can demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attributes for all essential areas of the units of competency covered under the full “best practice” guidelines for 4WD operation in the workplace. This includes being able to drive a 4WD over varied terrain safely, effectively and responsibly. Driving techniques that minimise negative impact upon the environment are encouraged.

- Vehicle designs and operating systems
- Pre-drive preparation
- Hazard identification and safety margin assessment specific to terrain
- Terrain contour and composition recognition
- Hill ascents, descents, traverse driving, and associated problems
- Understanding of vehicle movement utilising traction, momentum, gravity and centrifugal force combinations
- Introduction to trailer towing (on and off road)
- Introduction to four wheel drive recovery techniques and equipment
- Understand new technology

Duration
The duration of this course (1 or 2 days) will vary depending on the experience of the trainees. If the trainees have no prior off road experience the additional day allows for more off road driving situations in theory and practice, reducing driver risk. Maximum of 10 trainees per trainer. Minimum numbers can be negotiated upon request. Where higher trainee numbers are requested, or specialised course modules are required, additional qualified trainers may be in attendance to assist.
